Seed spreader it isn't

I purchased this Chapin Multi-Purpose Broadcast Spreader, model 8706A to spread Bermuda seed in my backyard. Once I had the area all prepped, I filled the hopper, set the spreader opening as listed on the directions "Fine Grain Material" to the lowest setting (# 1) and began to spread. Overall the unit is fairly comfortable but that is about the only thing I can say good about this model. If you don't know... Bermuda seed is very small. As I walked and cranked the spreader, the handle kept jamming up. I was afraid to put too much pressure on the handle as it is cheaply made with plastic materials. I had to stop, maneuver the handle to begin spreading again and then globs of seed came out because of the overflow. Yes, I left off the trigger which opens the hopper once the handle jammed. By that time it was too late each time. Large amounts of seed had collected in the spreader gearing and caused it to clog up. This happened 14 times as I was trying to cover the 2300 square feet of turf area. If you are looking to spread seed over a small area, this isn't the spreader you want to purchase. Of course if you use a larger seed hull like a Fescue, you might do alright, otherwise you're wasting your time, money on the seed and money on the spreader.
