        Storing and General Sprayer Maintenance

        • Store your sprayer out of direct sunlight
        • Store in a cool, dry space
        • Before freezing weather, make sure to drain all liquid in the tank, pump, pressure cylinder, hose, shut-off valve, wand and nozzle
NOTE: do this to avoid liquid expansion which could crack interior sprayer components
        • Lock the shut-off valve in the “open” position
        • Inspect the hose, wand, pump, tank and shut-off valve for wear, damage or leaks on a regular basis, and repair defects promptly
        • When service is required, call your nearest Chapin dealer and always insist on original Chapin manufactured replacement parts

          Storage and General Spreader Maintenance

          • When finished spreading empty hopper of any remaining material
          • Thoroughly wash spreader
          • Be careful to not spray directly into the gearbox

          • Allow to fully dry before storing
          • For some models: remember to fold down handle
          • On models with a grease fitting, it's recommended that you apply a general-purpose great at least once a month
          • Check tires for proper inflation after storing spreader for long periods. Inflate to 20 psi

For some models, specifically salt spreaders

          • Thoroughly wash spreader with a garden hose after each use
          • Some ice melt products, such as magnesium chloride will cause rusting to any stainless steel in wet conditions
          • Calcium chloride is less aggressive but will rust stainless or mild steel in a matter of weeks
          • Some materials are much more aggressive oxidizers than others
